Ten good films and their Remakes.

1. Pride and Prejudice is a novel written by Jane Austen in 1831, it was made into a film in 1940, again in 2005, but the real reason I added it here is because I just watched Pride and Prejudice and Zombies and enjoyed it! AND as bad as it was- you might enjoy it too!

2. The Coen Brothers take on the Original Western with John Wayne directed by Henry Hathaway
was close to the original, but followed the book more closely. Both films are amazing and should be watched one after the other. Both films are taken from the novel written by Charles Portis in 1968. Its a really good read. Id suggest reading the book first.

3. Steven Soderbergh's slightly more serious version of the original was fast paced and humorous.
The 1960's original was more about style and the four stars of the film that decided to make this film
on a whim about Las Vegas. The 60's original did well due to the fact it starred Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., Joey Bishop and Peter Lawford. Better known as "The Rat Pack".
Oceans Eleven had two sequels and another in the works called "Oceans 8" about the wives of the Ocean 11 characters.

4. "The Ring" directed by Gore Vebinski is a remake of the Japanese film "Ringu" which was adapted from a novel by Koji Suzuki and was taken from a Japanese folk tale.

"Ringu has a creepy-horror factor of +10 on a scale of 1-10.  Enjoy.

5. The original 1958 horror film was shot in cinemascope and had many positive reviews, as corny as it looks today it was quite frightening in its debut. David Cronenberg directed the remake in 1986 and a sequel was made in 1989.

6. Night of the Living Dead was shot, directed written and produced by George Romero and made for $114K. It made 12 million here and 18 million internationally, and earned 250 times its budget.
This film led to five consecutive films between 1978 and 2010. They are without a doubt great horror films to watch and enjoy anytime.

7. Scarface was a pre-code film made in 1932 produced by Howard Hughes and directed by Howard Hawks. It was based on Al Capone's rise and fall. Brian DePalma made the 1983 version starring Al Pacino and was inspired by the original 1932 film.

8. It is said that Infernal Affairs was the original film and The Departed was the remake, but it feels more like The Departed was taken from an original TRUE story about Whitey Bulger, the South Boston Irish Gangster. All three are worth the watch.

9. The Original Magnificent Seven was directed by John Sturges, who directed films like The Great Escape, Joe Kidd and Gunfight at the OK Corral. This film was a remake and americanized version of- yes, you guessed it- Akira Kurosawa's Seven SamaraiAntoine Fuqua's version made in 2016 was a more stylized version of Sturges film. Both American versions are extremely watchable, but first you must see Seven Samurai.

10. John Carpenter's "The Thing"  spawned the prequel "The Thing" in 2011. Both of these films were a remake of the original film made in 1951 called "The Thing From Another World", which was taken from a story wrote in 1938. I'd suggest you watch all three.
